Emergency Medical Services VMS

Emergency Medical Services is a module of Virtual Medical Simulation that allows the implementation of simulation scenarios in the non-hospital environment. It is possible to implement both basic and advanced simulation scenarios in multiplayer sessions. The participants of the simulation have at their disposal the necessary medical equipment, in particular: a defibrillator, ventilation equipment, airway clearance, intravenous injection, ampularium with a set of medicines and a container with infusion fluids.

Scenario and virtual patient configuration

The configuration of the scenario and the virtual patient is performed by the instructor. Configuration consists of setting the type of patient, the external appearance including clothing and possible injuries and placing it in the simulation environment – a virtual hospital. At the stage of creating a virtual patient, the instructor creates a lifeline containing relevant vital signs, laboratory and imaging results. The line of life also sets parameters that are to be evaluated and should generate adequate feedback in the simulation summary. The instructor at the stage of creating the life line decides which parameters are critical errors, sets the scoring rules, sets the vital parameters of the patient and the response of the virtual patient to the individual activities of the participants.

Simulation summary - feedback

The summary of the simulation scenario is a feedback for the participants, which is generated automatically at the end of each simulation session. When creating a scenario, the instructor sets the appropriate parameters in the patient’s life line that are to be assessed and appear in the summary. The instructor at the stage of creating the life line decides which parameters are critical errors, sets the scoring rules, sets the patient’s parameters and the virtual patient’s response to the individual activities of the simulation participants.
